Object of the Game
The object of the game is to remove your opponent's checkers from the board by capturing them.
Game Play
To begin the game, black (i.e. Smiley Faces) moves first and may move any checker in the front row (3rd row up from the bottom of the board). Checkers are advanced across the board. Your opponent (the computer) will be moving its checkers across the board as well, in the opposite direction as you are moving your checkers.
Once a checker is advanced completely across the board to the opponent's first row, it is made into a King, which is identified by a crown. A King may move in both directions on the board.
Jumping
Capturing a checker is done by "jumping", which means a checker is moved to the empty space on the other side of the opponent's checker, at which time the "jumped" checker is removed from the board.
Please note that if you have the opportunity to jump, you must jump. The game will not let you make another move if you have a jump available.
Double or Triple Jumps
More than one checker may be jumped in a single move. To do this, first drag the "jumping" checker over the first checker to be jumped, then release the mouse button temporarily so the checker rests on the "jumped to" square, then continue jumping by dragging the checker again and releasing it. Each time a checker is jumped and the mouse released, the opponent's jumped checker will be removed from the board.
Move History
Move history is recorded and displayed as the game is played. To display the board numbers, make sure to check "Board Numbers" and a number will appear in the bottom left corner of every square on the board.
Sound
Sound may be turned off by unchecking the sound checkbox.
Board Colors
Board colors may be changed at any time, even while a game is in progress!
