Hangman Rules
Object of the Game
The object of the game is to correctly fill in all letters for each of 8 words per game. A total of 4 minutes is given to solve all 8 words.
Game Play
To begin the game, select a letter you think is in the word and drag and drop it anywhere in the gallows area. Alternately, you may double-click a letter to select it. If the letter you have selected is in the word, the letter will appear in its correct position below the gallows. If the letter you selected is not in the word, the letter will appear in the left side of the gallows area.
A "round" is one word of the puzzle. Each game consists of eight words or eight "rounds". You have 4 minutes total to solve all 8 words, or an average of 30 seconds per word.
The number of spaces represents the number of letters in the word. Words will usually be 4 to 8 letters in length.
Scoring
A correct letter is worth 150 points. A correct word is worth 500 points. Note that scores will vary due to varying word lengths.
Bonus Scoring
10 Bonus points are awarded for each second remaining when the final word has been played. As noted above, you have 4 minutes (240 seconds) to solve all 8 words.
Sound
Sound may be turned off by clicking the "Sound" icon. Likewise, clicking the sound icon again will turn the sound on.
Posting a Score
Players may post their winning time and score after time has expired or you have attempted all 8 words. To post a score, you must be logged in prior to starting the game. If your score is in the top 10 for the day, you will see it immediately. If your time is not in the top 10, you may see it on the EverydayGames Global Online Live Scoring page.
Note: You must post your score before you click 'New Game'.
