Object of the Game

EverydayGames Word Scramble ™ Puzzle is similar to the word Jumble ™ puzzles found in many newspapers. The object of the game is to unscramble the four words in the upper portion of the game board. Then, using only the shaded letters, solve the riddle at the bottom of the page.

All the words are relatively ordinary words. We will never use obscure or infrequently used words. Please also note that proper names are not allowed.

Note that the illustration may provide an additional clue for some puzzles.

Beginning the Game

To begin the game, use your mouse to click on an empty square in one of the four words at the top of the board. (A selected square will be highlighted with a green border). Once the selected square is highlighted, you may type a letter on your keyboard to place a letter in the square.

To erase a letter, use the space bar or the backspace key.

Entering Letters

As you type in letters, the next square to the right will be selected. You may always move within a word by: 1. Using the left and right arrow keys, 2. Using the mouse to click on another square (in any word or the riddle), or 3. Enter a letter to advance to the square to the right of the current square.

Solving the Riddle

Entering letters in the riddle solution at the bottom of the game proceeds in a similar fashion: First select a letter by clicking on a square with the mouse. Next, type the letter you want to enter on the keyboard. Again, the arrow keys or mouse may be used to move the cursor, or you may choose to automatically move to the right as you enter letters.

Using Hints

Once all four words at the top of the puzzle are correctly unscrambled, you may use hints to help solve the riddle.

A maximum of 5 hints is allowed.

When score posting is implemented, the number of hints used will be posted along with the user ID.

Verifying Your Answers

When the game first begins, there are red X's adjacent to each unsolved word and the riddle. These X's will turn into green check marks to let you know that you've correctly unscrambled a word or solved the riddle.

Winning the Game

To win the game, you must unscramble all the words and solve the riddle. When the game has been won, all the X's turn to checkmarks, and a congratulatory message is displayed at the top of the game.

Order of solving the words and the riddle does not matter. If the riddle is solved first, you must go back and make sure all the words are unscrambled in order to win.

Sound

Sound may be turned off by unchecking the "Sound" checkbox. Likewise, checking the checkbox will turn the sound on.

Clearing the Board

All entries may be cleared and the timer reset by clicking "Clear All". Note that you will lose all entries and every letter square will become blank.
